The Buyer’s Edge. When savvy-buyers negotiate their deals with car salesmen used-car bargains exist. Remember, “aggressive” car salesmen can’t distinguish one car from another, nor one buyer from another. In other words, they can’t distinguish a “cream-puff” from a “throw-away” used- car, nor can they distinguish a savvy-buyer from a regular car shopper. The salesmen’s only “real” concern is to sell cars, now! And the only way to sell cars, now, is to get customers to sign their contracts, today! To car salesmen, selling cars is their “way” of making a living. They know when working for car dealerships, selling is periodic and routine, at best. Only the better players [salesmen] stay employed! That is, only so many “real” customers will be sold cars, each day. It is the job of any successful salesman to capture as many of those “walk-in” today-buyers that cross into the dealer’s lot.
